Cannot create account via OpenID (all usernames not available, & links to privacy/licensing/ToU pages redirect)

Hi!

I'm interested in signing up for P2PU and prefer to use an OpenID profile. I'm using Firefox 8.0 on Ubuntu 11.04, GNOME 2.32.1.

When I clicked "Participate" and saw there was an OpenID option (yay!), I typed in my OpenID address (http://brainwane.dreamwidth.org/) and clicked "go" and it seemed like the same page just returned to me. It took a few repetitions before I noticed the "Unknown user" message and realized that oh, P2PU won't just let me participate while authenticating with my OpenID, I have to create an account.

So I clicked "create an account" and got the dashboard page ("please fill out your profile to finish registration". But I ran into two problems:

• no matter what I typed in for my "username" I got a "not available" message. Examples:

Your public profile: http:///brainwane not available
Your public profile: http:///brainwane.dreamwidth.org not available
Your public profile: http:///jfdahjfkhsafkjahslkfhdalkfs not available

I noticed there are three slashes there after "http:" -- could that be a problem?

• When I try to click on the links for "privacy guidelines , license provisions and terms of use" I just get redirected to http://p2pu.org/en/dashboard/ so I can't read those pages.

   Hi Sumana,

   Thanks for the report about the problem with the red text saying that the username was not available even if it was actually available (submitting the form will have worked to finish the account registration but it is likely most people will try to pick another username until it said available). The issue is fixed now. If you did created a password based account on p2pu you can add your openid at http://p2pu.org/en/profile/edit/openids/ If not, you can try again to create an account with openid.

   The access problem with the terms of use, privacy policy and licensing from that page was fixed as well.

   Thanks! I was able to create my account. Separate bugg report: The
   "Preferred Language" subhead on the registration form does nothing.

   I am not able to access my account with FireFox. Nor, was I able to create a new account using FireFox.

   Instead I had to use Internet Explorer to create my new account & now when I attempt to open it with FireFox I get the following error:

   Forbidden (403)
   CSRF verification failed. Request aborted.
   More information is available with DEBUG=True.
