Trying to participate, but I'm stuck as a "follower"

I'm trying to participate in the "How to Teach Webcraft and Programming to Free-Range Students" course, but I'm stuck as a follower. I tried deleting my sign-up post and click "Participate", but it signed me up as a follower again.

    One of the organizers of the course needs to accept your signup answer before you become a participant. You could try contacting the organizer with a direct message or by leaving a reply to your signup answer.
